Welcome to Nature Saskatchewan
What we’re up to:
Nature Saskatchewan offers five voluntary stewardship programs that engage rural landholders and land managers in conserving habitat in southern Saskatchewan to benefit species at risk, ecosystem health, and people.
These programs focus on conserving habitat, raising awareness and providing support to agricultural producers, enhancing prairie habitat for species-at-risk, and monitoring target species-at-risk populations.
Our Objectives:
Operation Burrowing Owl (OBO) was launched in 1987 to protect the Burrowing Owl's habitat from cultivation, monitor population changes, and increase awareness of the owl. Through this program, landholders voluntarily agree to conserve habitat for the endangered Burrowing Owl and other prairie wildlife and annually report the number of owls on their land.
